ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY

Astro-English: from Astronese, the prefix over- is used to denote that which “resides above” and so when conjoined to the suffix -scape to denote “a specific scene”, altogether means “the scene above” in order to denote a certain conception of the astronomical world as the abode of the dead.
